Brunswick Prism Solid Bowling Ball Features:

The Prism Solid is one half of a dual release from Brunswick in their Pro Performance line. This ball uses the new Portal asymmetrical core design and features the new ACT Solid cover, the latest innovation in the Activator coverstock formula. It also uses Brunswick’s DOT and DynamiCore technologies. The Prism Solid comes sanded at a 360/500/2000 SiaAir finish, giving it a very rough texture out of the box that provides strong traction through oil.

  • New Core, “Portal” with an ultra-low RG and higher Differential and Intermediate Differential
    • Features DynamiCore, DOT and an industry-leading 4-year warranty
  • We’ve combined our composite technology with Activator for a super cover, Activator Composite Technology, A.C.T.
  • New finish process that increases the traction by adding more teeth under the finishing surface.  We start with 360 grit and work up to 2000 grit, increasing the overall surface
  • The new finishing process helps maintain the surface and performance integrity longer
  • Massive hook potential and continuation for any player on higher volume patterns or players that need a little help getting the ball started

7 reviews for Brunswick Prism Solid Bowling Ball

  1. Matt Haring

The Prism Solid is the biggest ball I have ever thrown. It digs in the mid-lane hard, and continues that strong motion through the pins. This is the perfect ball motion for heavy oil patterns or to blend out cliffed patterns with lot of oil in the middle and friction outside.

The Prism Solid is the strongest and earliest hooking ball in the Brunswick lineup to date. It starts reading the lane fairly early but maintains axis rotation very well for a strong ball. This Prism makes a much bigger move at the breakpoint then you would think based on the amount of surface out of the box. Slicker lane conditions are no match for this ball. It allowed me to play 4th arrow easily on our fresh house shot. The pin carry with Dynamicore was very good as well. If you are looking for a great heavier oil ball you must check out the Prism Solid!

Being new to throwing the Brunswick equipment as an EBI Staffer, the Prism Solid was my first choice to throw and boy this ball for an Asymmetrical ball is very smooth, very predictable, and simple ball motion. I drilled the pin below my middle finger with CG in middle of my span, and Mass Bias kicked to the right of my middle finger. The ball motion is simple and a great piece to my bag.

    Brunswick Prism Solid

The Prism line features the new ultra-low RG, dynamically engineered Portal core. The Portal core, coupled with a combination of Activator and Composite cover technologies produces a strike inducing reaction. The Prism Solid will cover any heavy oil condition while the Prism Hybrid will handle transitions, through broken down or lower volume conditions. They were designed to complement each other, the Prism Solid and Prism Hybrid were made to strike. I used one of my favorite layouts on each, 35x5x50 so they are predictable and strong. This ball is a beast on heavier volume and my house pattern as well, and it really is a great one-two punch with the Prism Hybrid.

Here’s my low level, Blue-collar review for the Prism Solid.
I had mine drilled pin down after talking to the pro shop about producing a hook-set type reaction, I wanted a piece I could control on the fresh house shot, and to the credit of the pro shop it worked out beautifully, it’s amazingly reliable, produces a strong change of direction and drives straight to the pocket with very little hand, allowing me to pick up the speed a little, it’s not overly angular pin down so I really have to throw a bad shot off the hand to have it go Brooklyn , that’s my signature move after all, so I’m thankful this ball shapes the way it does, I do find a ball change is necessary pretty quickly, you can’t take it very far left before it just refuses to return, I maybe get one or two very comfortable games out of it before it’s time to ball down but I think that speaks to its level of traction. I would absolutely recommend this for someone who bowls on lower friction lanes and / or a soupy house shot which we have both of here.

  6. Anthony Baker

By far my favorite ball right now and the 1st ball out of my bag! I went with with a pin down lay out on this ball to let me control the back ends on the fresh. This ball is one of the most popular balls right now in my area, and matched with the Prism Hybrid give you a one two punch!

    Rev Rate 300 – 315

    Ball speed 15 mph

    Tilt 13 degrees

    ball wt 15 lbs

    PAP 4 3/4 over x 3/4 up

    Layout 65 x 2 x 35

    right handed

This ball, in a word, is aggressive. The Prism chews through heavy oil yet does not start up too early. The 65 x 2 x 35 layout gives me the ability to move right and keep the angles in front of me which gives me a much better look at the pocket and allows for a better entry angle. With my modest rev rate, I tend to have carry problems playing deeper lines on heavier patterns. I first tried the box finish on a THS. Very strong when encountering friction, I moved a couple boards in and the Prism smoothed out the over/under condition. I then applied Brunswick Compound to the ball and found I was able to get the ball down lane a bit more yet not over react. The Prism was very smooth and strong through the back ends and pin deck. The Prism line, with the original Prism, the Prism Hybrid and Prism warp make up a complete, asymmetrical arsenal for most any lane condition.
