Hammer Obsession Bowling Ball Features:

The Obsession is one of two new releases in the Hammer High Performance line sharing the same main core geometry. The Obsession has more flare potential than the Obsession Tour, and it uses the Envy Solid CFI coverstock. This is the first time since the change in production facilities for Hammer that a carbon fiber additive has been used in the coverstock. The Obsession core design utilizes the Durability Optimization Technology (DOT) system, which places the pin on the bottom of the ball to provide more layout flexibility. The Obsession is finished with 500 and 1500 SiaAir, giving it plenty of traction for use in heavy oil or longer oil conditions.

Two ball launches can be pretty predictable; usually, it’s a solid and a pearl with the same core and cover; it’s a formula that has worked forever. Hammer wanted to be different this time, so we thought outside the box and threw standard convention to the wind. Hammer is excited to introduce the Hammer Obsession and the Obsession Tour.

This is a two-ball launch, both having a solid cover; the difference is the core. The Obsession and Obsession Tour have the same core shape; however, the flip block has been eliminated from the Tour edition, lowering the differential .016 points, creating less flare, less hook, and a more controllable reaction compared to the regular Obsession. While the covers are both solid, they are different; the Obsession has a new strong formula called Envy Solid CFI, where Hammer has gone back to infusing the shell with carbon fiber. The Obsession Tour uses an updated version of the Tour cover found on the Web Tour balls.

This obsession has beautiful appeal with the pink popping while it rolls down lane. Don’t let the pretty color fool you though this ball digs in and puts in work. I have this ball earlier and overall a little stronger than the redemption solid. This is gonna be a great ball to start the night off and will transition easy to the obsession tour.

  2. Bob Newman

This is gonna be your big asymmetric core, solid cover, eat up the oil ball. It will be your go to ball on heavy volume or long oil patterns. For me it is very close in shape to the Redemption solid. I would say it gets a little bit farther down lane and is a little more angular thru the pin deck. Overall very nice shape with good carry.

  3. gerard

This is a strong, continuous ball motion. This will give you some serious motion down the lane. If you are looking for something to cut through the oil then this is the ball for you. I was able to see a little more length down the lane than I usually do with most solids and it still had enough left to corner hard through the pins. Overall I really liked the shape from front to back!

The Hammer Obsession is a serious hook monster that won’t disappoint. Lots of muscle to navigate the heaviest oil patterns. This is a great ball on the fresh that is early yet continuous through the deck. The Obsession has a nice coloration that will definitely turn heads by it’s look just before the smash of the pins!

  5. Scott Gilmore

Wow! Can you say hook??? The Hammer Obsession, is definitely obsessed with oil. This ball might hook on ice. I drilled mine with the pin just above my ring finger. I’m telling you the DOT technology is fantastic! The first pattern i bowled on with it was Kegel’s Great Wall of China. 48-feet. This ball dug right through the oil. Rolls incredibly well. If you want a ball for the fresh, or heavy oil, look no further than the Obsession.

  6. TJ Mento

The Obsession is the new Big Asymmetrical ball from Hammer. It is used best on heavier oiled conditions long and short. I had success with it on a 35′ pattern but with heavy volume so don’t think it’s a ball for only long oil patterns. I compared it to the Redemption Solid and found them very comparable. If you are looking for a new ball to fill that hole then this is the ball you are looking for.
