Motiv Ripcord Flight Bowling Ball Features:
The Ripcord Flight uses the symmetrical Oblivion core shape that was used previously in the Paranoia series and the original Ripcord. Its Turmoil Max Solid Reactive cover is a new formulation, providing much more traction than earlier Turmoil versions, such as the one used on the Venom Shock, and comes out of the box at a 3000 grit sanded finish. The higher RG core design helps conserve energy as the aggressive cover and rough box finish provide traction in the oil.
MOTIV has produced some of the greatest solid reactive bowling balls in the world. They create aggressive traction in oil yet retain energy for explosive continuation down lane, and that’s not easy to do. Those impressive characteristics have been refined and tuned for medium oil to deliver the solid Ripcord Flight.
Continuing with the dual-density Oblivion core to provide length and create angle, the Sky Blue Ripcord Flight features Turmoil Max Solid Reactive cover stock. This modified version of the cover used on the Venom Shock handles slightly more oil volume and is tuned with a 3000 Grit LSS factory finish.
“For years, our pro tour staff has asked for a ball to compliment the Venom Shock when it can’t create enough angle or combat the volume on the lane. The Ripcord Flight is exactly that ball. I can’t wait to get this in the hands of competitive and casual bowlers,” said MOTIV PBA Tour rep Brett Spangler.
For many bowlers, the Sky Blue Ripcord Flight will be an outstanding benchmark ball. It perfectly balances the characteristics of a solid cover while also providing more shape down lane. This piece is a must.

The layout I used on the Ripcord Flight was 60x5x30. This bowling ball defines what a benchmark ball is supposed to do. It reminds me of the Venom Shock; however, the new Ripcord Flight is stronger overall and a little more round on the backend for me. This is due to the higher diff core inside the Ripcord Flight. This ball makes the lanes easy to read and lets you know how to attack them. It takes really well to surface changes. I have thrown it at box(3k), 1k, and 2k. I prefer to use it at 2000 because it makes the ball motion a bit smoother. This ball will definitely make the pins take FLIGHT!

The venom shock has been my favorite ball from Motiv. It is very controllable with a smooth but continuous motion down lane. Sometimes on heavier oiled house shots or on certain patterns the venom shock is just a little too weak, the new ripcord flight fills that gap. The layout on my Ripcord Flight is 65×4 1/2×70 which is the same layout that is on my favorite shock. For me the ripcord flight is about 3-4 boards stronger than the shock, reads the lane a little sooner which allows it to handle more oil, but still has that smooth, continuous motion down lane. This new flight is the perfect benchmark ball to start with on any pattern.

I had the chance to throw the Rip Cord Flight and I must say this ball is really good. The Rip Cord Flight is earlier and stronger than the original Rip Cord. The Flight gives a smooth overall motion where the original Rip Cord is longer and more angular. I would start with the Flight on the fresh and transition into the original Rip Cord later on in the set. The Flight and the Venom Shock shape very similar but the Flight will handle more oil than the Shock will. You’re able to use it up the lane as well as play the inside part of the lane with it. Another great release from Motiv!!!

As much as i enjoy my venom shock, it can be a little weak on some nights as 1st ball out of the bag. Sometimes my Forge Fire is just to much on the same shot, so I was left with a gap. That was until the ripcord flight came out. Now I can handle just about any THS shot on the fresh. The flight is the ideal benchmark reaction for most houses I bowl in. I shot 700 the 1st 2 nights with the Ripcord Flight in 2 centers with much different patterns. I can’t say enough good things about this ball, it will definitely make the trip to reno(Maybe)! I admire this ball so much that I have drilled a 2nd already with a slightly different layout.
The Ripcord Flight is the newest addition to the Motiv Medium line. For me, I love the original Ripcord on medium flat patterns and pretty much any house conditions because once it sees friction, it goes. The Ripcord Flight has been a very great asset to my bag. As someone who loves to throw midline pieces as much as I can, the Ripcord Flight gives me a lot of great options for patterns. I have really found that when the lanes see some over/under and I can’t get a ball to shape, the Ripcord Flight allows me that smooth transition with a consistent read. My favorite part about the Ripcord Flight is that it allows me to increase my miss room on harder patterns because it has enough hook to get through the oil so it allows me to shape the lane with its versatility. The Ripcord Flight in my opinion is a must for house shots, especially if you are already carrying the original Ripcord in your bag. Get your hands on a Ripcord Flight and Take Off to the next level!

As we finally come back from the COVID break I have finally got a chance to throw some of my new rocks. Let’s chat about the new ripcord flight. For me, I drilled mine 40x4x70. So for me its pin under the middle finger with no hole. I have a shock drilled the exact same layout. So to me, the flight feels cleaner upfront and more responsive downlane than the shock that people love to compare it to. Overall strength they are very similar just different shapes to me. Really great compliments to each other.
I love my Flight, first ball out of bag for a HSE shot.
Have mine drilled 70×4.1/2×30 pin above ring finger left hand, reads the mid lanes great for me @ 16.8 and back in is GREAT. My shock I put pin up between middle of fingers and does a excellent job for me on the second and third game. This is a must ball for Motiv fans, this ball will definitely be in my bag 4 RENO.
