Top Weight Choices:
“Top Weight” has two meanings. It can refer to a physical weight that is inserted underneath the center of gravity of a bowling ball to account for the weight that is removed during drilling. It can also refer to the weight of the top half of a bowling ball relative to the weight of its bottom half. The weight in ounces of the top weight in any given ball should be clearly identified in its product specs; find and buy one that meets your personal needs and preferences. With the new USBC ruling, which eliminates weight holes in bowling balls, effective 8/20 the top weight is a much less important factor than it ever was. Top weight by itself has an extremely minimal effect on ball motion.
